Manage Objects

Data Quality is delivered with a standard set of reports organized by object (which is a categorization). Reports can be configured by object and then published to a group to facilitate the manual process of adding reports to groups. These reports are delivered in the DGReports Repository and can be published to any group(s).

Create Objects and Publish Reports to Groups

Data Quality is delivered with objects that contain pre-registered reports. Publish an object to register all reports to a group. While Data Quality is delivered with a standard set of objects, additional objects can be created.

To create an object:

  1. Create a group.

    NOTE: A group is a collection of reports. Refer to the Create Groups section for detailed information.

  2. Select Configuration > Objects in Navigation pane.
  3. Click Add.

  4. Enter object in OBJECT NAME field.
  5. Enter a brief description of object in DESCRIPTION field.
  6. Click Save.
  7. Click Vertical View to enter a threshold ID for data quality scoring (optional).

  8. Click Edit.

  9. Select a threshold from the Threshold ID list box.

  10. Click the Documentation tab.
  11. Enter a hyperlink and supporting documentation that demonstrate the connection from data-related assets in the Stewardship Tier to external references, such as the Knowledge Tier, in the External Reference field.

  12. Click Save.
  13. Navigate back to the Objects page.

  14. Register reports to an object.

    NOTE: Refer to Register Reports to Objects for detailed information.

  15. Click Publish to register all reports for the object to a group.
  16. Click Edit.

  17. Select a group from Group ID list box.
  18. Click Save.
  19. Click Execute; a confirmation message displays.
  20. Click Ok.

Register Object Reports

Objects are delivered with standard reports registered. Additional reports can be configured for an object before it is published to a group.

Depending on how objects are configured with reports, reports can be added to an object or an object can be added to a report.

Register Reports to Objects

To register a report for an object:

  1. Select Configuration > Objects in the Navigation pane.
  2. Click the Reports icon for the Object.
  3. Click Add.

  4. Select the repository where the report resides from the REPOSITORY list box.
  5. Select the report from the REPORT list box.
  6. Click Save.

Register Objects to Reports

To register objects to a report:

  1. Select Configuration > Report Repositories in the Navigation pane.
  2. Click the Reports icon for the Repository.
  3. Click the Objects icon for the Report.
  4. Click Add.
