Configure Columns to be Ignored

Promote allows users to ignore, by default, specific columns during the comparison and/or the sync process in all Structure - Data tables and sub tables. It is helpful to ignore columns that are not true differences, such as system fields (e.g., AddedOn and ChangedBy) or LastRunDate for a stored procedure.

Promote is delivered with a set of recommended columns to be ignored. These recommendations can be modified and additional columns can be added to fit the client’s business requirements.

Columns added to the ignore list can be overridden at the package column levels (on the Structures - Data Table Columns page) for specific cases.

To configure columns to be ignored:

  1. Select Configuration > Auto Ignore Columns in the Navigation pane.
  2. Click Add.

View the page description for the Auto Ignore Columns page

  3. Enter a column to be ignored by default in the COLUMN NAME field.

  4. Click the IGNORE COMPARE check box to disable it if the column is not to be ignored by default during the compare process. Otherwise, leave the check box enabled so the column is ignored by default during the compare process.

  5. Click the IGNORE SYNC check box to disable it if the column is not to be ignored by default during the sync process. Otherwise, leave the check box enabled so the column is ignored by default during the sync process.

NOTE: Some fields should not be synchronized, such as user names, passwords or other sensitive data.

  1. Click Save.
