Create Stop Lists

A stop list is a list of words that is ignored during duplicate detection, indexing and searching. Performance and accuracy are improved with these processes when words such as prepositions, conjunctions, adjectives and adverbs are added to a stop list.

Two stop lists are delivered with the Stewardship Tier:

  • Company – provides a list of company name and address words

  • General – provides a list of all-purpose words

To create a stop list:

  1. Select Configuration > Search > Stop Lists in the Navigation pane.
  2. Click Add.

  3. Enter a name for the list in STOP LIST field.

  4. Enter a brief description of the stop list in DESCRIPTION field.

  5. Click Save.

  6. Click Words for the stop list.

  7. Click Add.

  8. Enter a word to be ignored during duplicate detection, indexing and searching.

  9. Click Save.

  10. Add additional Words as needed to the stop list.
