Download and View Assets From the Knowledge Tier

When an asset is downloaded, the process deletes what has already been pulled down (if data has been pulled down) and pulls down all available assets and asset details for the select asset name, depending on how the endpoints are configured in the REST API.

NOTE: There is one exception: Systems. Downloading the system does not automatically download the system fields; users must download system fields as a separate process.

To download and view assets from the Knowledge Tier:

  1. Select Knowledge Tier Connect > Knowledge Tier Download in the Navigation pane.

  2. Click the Download Asset icon for every asset.

  3. Click the View Data icon for a downloaded asset.

NOTE: Depending on the asset type, additional drill-down pages are available to view details such as asset contacts, sponsors, relationships, and supporting documentation.

The following assets can be downloaded from the Knowledge Tier:

  • Category

  • Data set

  • Goal

  • Initiative

  • Mission

  • Policy

  • Program

  • Rule

  • System

  • Term

  • User

  • Vision

Click the Asset URL icon to view the asset in the Knowledge Tier. A new window launches the Knowledge Tier and navigates to the asset.

NOTE: There are two exceptions for the Asset URL icon:

  • Category—there is not a way to link to a specific category, so the Asset URL on the Category page links to the general Category page in the Knowledge Tier

  • User—the Asset URL icon is not available on the User page

Download System Fields

Users may download fields from an existing system. Be aware that systems with a large amount of fields can take a long time to download.

To download data set fields from a system:

  1. Select Common > Knowledge Tier Connect > Knowledge Tier Download in the Navigation pane.

  2. Click the Download Asset icon for System to download existing systems from the Knowledge Tier.

  3. Click the View Data icon for System.

  4. Select the system and click the Download System Fields icon on the Page toolbar to download fields for a single system.

    Or

    Use multi-select to select multiple systems and click the Download System Fields icon on the Page Toolbar.

The fields for the system are also downloaded into an archive table and are available to add to the data set via the Data Set Field Upload page. Refer to Add Fields to a Data Set for more information.

Purge Cached System Fields

To remove all fields for the system from the archive, for example, to remove the fields from an unused system or if on the very rare occasion the system fields were removed from the Knowledge Tier, click the Purge Cached Fields icon on the Page Toolbar.
