Manage Execution Data for an Object

As part of the requirements gathering process, project managers can define the possible values for Execution Groups that can be assigned to a Wave Process Area object. Grouping execution data into meaningful groups makes the iterative process of migration easier to manage.

For example, when migrating plant data from plants that are in different countries, users from each country may want to know their plant data’s load statistics. To do this, the project manager creates a Migration Execution Group named “Country,” then enters the allowable values for the Migration Execution Group for each applicable Wave. The user configures the Execution Group to filter load statistic results by the country code in the zCountry field. As a result, there are placeholders in the execution plan for each country’s load statistics, helping to streamline the flow of information to the right people.

The following execution-related data is used to derive metrics and indicators related to the execution statuses that are displayed on Migration Dashboards in the Knowledge Tier:

Configure Wave Execution Group Values

Before Execution Group Values can be configured for an object, you must configure the allowable Execution Levels and Groups for the Wave. For configurable Execution Groups to display on this page, the groups must be added on the Migration Execution Groups page. Refer to Add Migration Execution Groups for more information.

To configure values for Wave Execution groups in Console:

  1. Click Waves in the Navigation pane.
  2. Click Vertical View for a Wave.
  3. Click the Execution Group Values icon.

View field descriptions for the Wave Execution Groups page

  4. Select an Execution Group.

View field descriptions for the Wave Execution Group Values page

  5. Click Add.
  6. Enter a value for which the Execution Group with filter data for the Wave in the VALUE text box.
  7. Click Save.

Manage Execution Data from the Process Area : Object Page’s Vertical View

To update an object’s execution data record-by-record from the Process Area : Object page in Console:

  1. Click Waves in the Navigation pane.
  2. Click the Process Areas icon for a wave.
  3. Click the Objects icon for a process area.
  4. Click Vertical View for an object.
  5. Click the Execution Data tab.
  6. Click Edit.

View the field descriptions for the Process Area : Object page

  7. Select an Execution Level from the Execution Level list box. The options are:
    • Object—Used when:
      • Migration activities are performed at the overall object level regardless of the number of associated target tables and
      • Where there is no requirement to split tasks such as the recording of load statistics by any kind of sub-grouping within the data set.
    • Object Group—Used when:
      • Migration activities are performed at the overall object level regardless of the number of associated target tables and
      • Where users want to split tasks such as the recording of load statistics by a sub-group that exists within the data set.
    • Target—Used when:
      • Migration activities are performed at the individual target table within an object level and
      • Where there is no requirement to split tasks such as the recording of load statistics by any kind of sub-grouping within the data set.
    • Target Group—Used when:
      • Migration activities are performed at the individual target table within an object level and
      • Where users want to split tasks such as the recording of load statistics by a sub-group that exists within the data set.
  8. Select an Execution Group from the Execution Group list box. Refer to Add Migration Execution Groups for more information.

NOTE: Only Execution Groups with assigned Execution Group Values display in this list box. Refer to Configure Wave Execution Group Values for more information.

  9. Click Save.
