Remediate

Set Up the Syniti Knowledge Platform

Before utilizing Remediate, there are a series of tasks that must be completed in the Syniti Knowledge Platform (the cloud) to enable the Quality module and for the failed data associated with data quality reports to be saved into a SQL Server instance and subsequently be available for remediation within the Stewardship Tier.

Register SKP Connector

The SKP connector is the Syniti component that allows the Syniti Knowledge Platform to communicate with systems in your landscape.

To register the SKP Connector, refer to Register an SKP Connector in the Syniti Knowledge Platform’s online help.

Register MS SQL Server Data Store

Create a database on the SST MDM SQL Server instance that will hold the failed data generated when implementations are executed. This is done by registering the SQL Server instance as a data store in the Syniti Knowledge Platform.

To register a data store, refer to Data Store in the Syniti Knowledge Platform’s online help. Set the Type to MS SQL Server. The Owner and the Database fields are not required. However, if the Owner is blank, a Database must be entered.

NOTE: Only a single data store can be registered. When operating a multi-tier MDM environment, take into consideration where the data store points.

Obtain an API User Account

An API user account is required to call the Syniti Knowledge Platform APIs in order to extract metadata.

To obtain an API user account, submit a request to Syniti Support. Refer to the Generate API Credentials for the Knowledge Tier knowledgebase article for more information.

Create System & Connection

Data quality reports are written against a database, e.g., dgSAP on the SST MDM SQL Server instance. To enable this ability, create a system and a connection to the SQL Server instance.

Create a System

The system must be created before a connection can be made.

To create a system, refer to Create a System in the online help for more information.

Create a Connection

Create a connection on the system where the Usage is set to “Data Quality” in order to assign the connection to an implementation.

To create a connection, refer to Create a Connection in the online help for more information.

Test Data

Once the Syniti Knowledge Platform is setup for MDM data quality remediation, test data by creating the following:

  • One or more terms to represent business concepts assigned to the rule, e.g., Customer Master, Material Master. Refer to Terms in the online help for more information.

  • One or more business processes, e.g., Order-to-Cash, Purchase-to-Pay. Refer to Business Processes in the online help for more information.

  • One or more categories with values. Refer to Categories and Values in the online help for more information.

  • Data quality enforcements related to the system that was created during the setup. Refer to Add an Enforcement to a Rule in the online help for more information.

  • Data quality implementations for the rule/enforcement related to the system that was created during setup. Refer to Add an Enforcement to a Rule in the online help for more information.
