Users can also add custom load cycles. Refer to Add a Load Cycle for more information.
NOTE: Load cycles set to be Auto Included are automatically added to all Waves. Refer to Add a Load Cycle for more information.
If a load cycle is not Auto Included in a wave, it can be assigned to an existing wave. Refer to Assign a Load Cycle to a Wave for more information.
Once a planning group is added to a wave, it is available to assign to a wave’s load cycles. The scope of Objects in a Wave / Load Cycle is determined based on the Objects assigned to Planning groups included in the Load Cycle. Individual Objects can be excluded from specific load cycles, if needed. Refer to Add a Planning Group to a Load Cycle and Exclude a Planning Group Object from a Load Cycle for more information.

Assign a Load Cycle to a Wave
Once load cycles have been created on the Load Cycle page, they can be assigned to waves based on load cycles that are planned to take place. The two ways to assign load cycles to waves are to:
- Auto Include the load cycle on the Load Cycle page.
- Assign the load cycle to a wave on the Wave Load Cycles page.
To assign a load cycle to a wave in Console:
- Click Waves in the Navigation pane.
- Click the Load Cycles icon for a wave.
-
Click Add.
- Enter a name in the LOAD CYCLE text box.
-
Select the instance for the Load Cycle from the INSTANCE list box.
NOTE: The instance is used in multi-tier implementations of the Stewardship Tier to display the correct data on Migration-related dashboards in the Knowledge Tier. Options in this list box are set on the Instances page in System Administration.
- Click to select a date from the calendar for the PLANNED START DATE.
- Click to select a date from the calendar for the PLANNED END DATE.
- Click to select a date from the calendar for the ACTUAL START DATE.
- Click to select a date from the calendar for the ACTUAL END DATE.
- Click Save.
Add a Planning Group to a Load Cycle
Planning groups are used to group Objects together for planning and execution purposes. When assigned to a Wave’s load cycles, the Objects included in the Load Cycle are determined. This scope of Objects is then used in ‘Execute’ milestones to track a Load Cycle's Data Quality metrics. Planning groups can be added to load cycles for a Wave once the planning group has been added to the Wave. Refer to Add Elements Separately for more information.
To add a planning group to a load cycle in Console:
- Click Waves in the Navigation pane.
- Click the Load Cycles icon for a Wave.
-
Click the Planning Groups icon for a load cycle.
- Select a planning group and click the Include icon.
NOTE: To remove the planning group from the load cycle select a PLANNING GROUP and click the Remove icon to exclude the planning groups from the load cycle.

Exclude an Object from a Load Cycle
By default, all of the Objects assigned to planning groups linked to a load cycle are included in the load cycle. To help users refine the Objects in scope for a load cycle, objects can be excluded. For more information on how to assign planning groups to Objects on the Wave Process Area Object Planning Data page, refer to Manage Planning Data.
To exclude objects from a load cycle’s planning groups in Console:
- Click Waves in the Navigation pane.
- Click the Load Cycles icon for a Wave.
-
Click the Objects icon for a load cycle.
-
Select an object and click Exclude; a warning message displays.
NOTE: To include an excluded object in a load cycle, select the object and click the Remove Exclusion icon.
