Manage Migration Milestones
- Build/Design
- Execute
NOTE:A milestone of type Execute uses the assigned load cycle's planning group assignment, meaning that planning groups cannot be included or removed on the Migration Planning Group page. Refer to Assign a Load Cycle to a Wave for more information.
Build/Design milestones have the following thresholds that the user must set:
- Design Complete Lower Threshold
- Design Complete Upper Threshold
- Mapping Complete Lower Threshold
- Mapping Complete Upper Threshold
- Rules Complete Lower Threshold
- Rules Complete Upper Threshold
Execute Milestones must have a Load Cycle assigned and have the following thresholds set:
- Quality Lower Threshold
- Quality Upper Threshold
NOTE: The Quality thresholds are not used in the initial release of Migration Dashboards but will be implemented in a future release.
This topic contains the following sections:
Add a Migration Milestone to a Wave
Migration milestones are set at the wave level, and have thresholds assigned. Design, Mapping and Build metrics associated with Objects linked to the Milestone (via Planning Groups) are used to determine whether thresholds have been met. Charts in the Knowledge Tier reflect work against these thresholds.
Migration milestones of the Design/Build type track migration progress on a project and use the following thresholds, entered on the Vertical View of the Migration Milestones page.
- Design Complete Lower Threshold—If the design percent complete for the objects related to this Migration milestone is below this threshold, the associated charts show a RED status. If the design percent complete for the objects related to this Migration milestone are above this threshold but below the Design Complete Upper Threshold then the charts show an AMBER status.
- Design Complete Upper Threshold—If the design percent complete for the objects related to this Migration milestone are equal to or above this threshold, the associated charts show a GREEN status.
- Mapping Complete Lower Threshold—If the field mapping percent complete for the objects related to this Migration milestone is below this threshold, the associated charts show a RED status. If the field mapping percent complete for the objects related to this Migration milestone is above this threshold but below the Mapping Complete Upper Threshold then the charts show an AMBER status.
- Mapping Complete Upper Threshold— If field mapping percent complete for the objects related to this Migration milestone is equal to or above this threshold, the associated charts show a GREEN status.
- Rules Complete Lower Threshold—If the rule build percent complete for the objects related to this Migration milestone is below this threshold, the associated charts show a RED status. If the rule build percent complete for the objects related to this Migration milestone is above this threshold but below the Rule Build Upper Threshold then the charts show an AMBER status.
- Rules Complete Upper Threshold—If the rule build percent complete for the objects related to this Migration milestone is equal to or above this threshold, the associated charts show a GREEN status.
Migration milestones of the Execute type track the migration project based on Quality thresholds. These thresholds are not used in Stewardship Tier 7.2, but will be implemented in a later version.
To add a Migration milestone to a wave:
- Select Advanced Data Migration in the Navigation pane, or select Console in the Context bar.
- Click Waves in the Navigation pane.
- Click the Milestones icon for a wave.
-
Click Add.
View the field descriptions for the Migration Milestone page
-
Select the TYPE from the Migration milestone from the MILESTONE TYPE list box.
Options are:
- Build/Design—Milestones of this type require target thresholds for Design, Mapping and Rule Build to be populated.
-
Execute—Milestones of this type require a load cycle to be assigned and target thresholds for Quality to be populated.
NOTE: Quality thresholds are not used in Stewardship Tier 7.2 but will be implemented in a later version.
- Enter a descriptive name for the Migration milestone in the NAME field.
-
Click the MILESTONE DATE field and set the date by which this milestone must be complete.
NOTE: After a Migration milestone date has passed, the milestone can't be edited or deleted. This is because the metrics associated with the milestone at its end date are retained for reporting purposes.
- Click Save; Vertical View displays.
-
If this is a Migration milestone of Type Execute, add the following information:
- Load Cycle
- Quality Lower Threshold
- Quality Upper Threshold
- Click Save.
-
If this is a Migration milestone of type Design/Build, enter values in the following threshold fields to configure how data displays on the Migration dashboards:
- Design Complete Lower Threshold
- Design Complete Upper Threshold
- Mapping Complete Lower Threshold
- Mapping Complete Upper Threshold
- Rules Complete Lower Threshold
- Rules Complete Upper Threshold
- Click Save.
Add a Planning Group to a Migration Milestone
After adding a Design/Build Migration milestone to a wave, add a planning group, or multiple planning groups, to the milestone.
NOTE: Execute Migration milestone types automatically use the load cycle planning group assignment for the wave, and planning groups cannot be included or removed on the Milestone Planning Group page. Refer to Assign a Load Cycle to a Wave for more information.
To add a planning group to a Migration milestone:
- Click the Planning Groups icon on the Migration Milestone page for the Migration milestone.
- Click the name of the planning group in the PLANNING GROUP column.
- Click the Include icon on the Page toolbar.
