Configure Data Migration Cloud Dashboards

Project Managers can gain insight into migration project statuses using the Data Migration Cloud Dashboards accessible in the Knowledge Tier. Configuring and using the dashboards:

  • Allows Design / Mapping and Build Status to be tracked against plan by Wave / Process Area, Object or Target Table.
  • Allows for project milestones related to design, mapping and build activities to be set and tracked against using near real-time status information.
  • Provides improved metric reporting and dashboarding, giving project stakeholders better visibility of project status using fact based information.

The dashboards provide the following:

  • An Executive Summary of the migration project, including:
    • Development Status to Plan
    • Target Design Percent Complete
    • Field Mapping Percent Complete
    • Field Mapping & Rule Backlog
    • Field Mapping % Populated
    • Rule Build % Complete
    • Complete Mapping Rule Build % Complete
  • Milestone Reporting including:
    • Project Milestones
    • Target Design % Complete
    • Field Mapping % Complete
    • Rule Build % Complete
    • Number of Objects
  • Object Status
    • Data Object Development Status to Plan
    • Target Design % Complete
    • Field Mapping % Complete
    • Field Mapping Backlog
    • Field Mapping % Populated
    • Rule Build % Complete
    • Complete Mapping Rule Build % Complete

Additionally, there are a series of reports that allow project managers and consultants to drill into status information at Object / Target and Target Source level.

Refer to How the Migration Dashboard Metrics are Calculated in the Knowledge Tier help for details about the calculations used on the charts and what the dashboards display.

The Migration dashboards are configured in Stewardship Tier version 7.2 and later.

NOTE: Configuring and using the Migration dashboards are optional tasks.

NOTE: To use the Migration dashboards, you must have a Knowledge Tier tenant.

NOTE: Users with the following role have access to configure planning groups, milestones, and load cycles and to maintain Object planning data:

  • Migration Developer Lite: Console > User
  • Migration Developer Advanced: Console > PowerUser

Users with the following role have access to influence the Design Status:

  • Migration Developer Lite: Console > User
  • Migration Business User: Console > User

Users with the following role have access to influence the Mapping and Rule Build Status:

  • Migration Developer Advanced: Map > PowerUser
  • Migration Developer Lite: Map > PowerUserLite

Refer to Set Security in the Stewardship Tier for more information.

As part of the configuration in the Stewardship Tier, users add or review planning groups, load cycles, planning data and Migration milestones.

The charts on the dashboards in the Knowledge Tier reflect the differences among planning data and actual work in a migration project against the milestones added for a wave.

NOTE: Prior to configuring these dashboards, refer to Appendix J in the Installation and Upgrade Manual available on the Syniti support site for information about configuring the Agents used to connect the Stewardship Tier to the Knowledge Tier. These Agents must be configured so that data can display on the dashboards.

NOTE: For details on using the Migration dashboards, refer to Migration Dashboards in Knowledge Tier help.

To configure the Migration dashboards, at a high level:

  1. Create a custom planning group, or use the delivered planning groups. Refer to Add a Planning Group for more information
  2. Create a custom load cycle, or use the delivered load cycles. Refer to Add a Load Cycle for more information.
  3. Set the planning group at the appropriate level to cascade through objects in the wave. Refer to Manage Planning Data for more information.
  4. Set the load cycles for a wave. Refer to Assign a Load Cycle to a Wave for more information.
  5. Set the Milestone metrics for a wave. Refer to Manage Migration Milestones for more information.
  6. Enter status of Relevancy, PreLoad, PostLoad reports and Load Program. Refer to Track Report and Load Program Status for more information.

Data for the Migration Dashboards is refreshed every thirty minutes based upon when the Reporting and Metrics agent service was started. The dashboards in the Knowledge Tier show the time the data was last refreshed.
