View Rule Binding Inconsistencies

If columns are added, removed or reordered in Information Steward (IS) after the rule has been processed against those columns in ISA, a process can run to sync IS and ISA.

A setting on the Parameters page, Rebuild Rule Binding Columns, is checked by default, and allows a process to run each time a rule is run to check for inconsistencies in column data between IS and ISA and to sync the data between the applications. The results display on the Inconsistent Rule Bindings page, where a user can also access the Activate Columns page to activate any newly added columns as needed. Refer to Activate Columns for Project Distribution Rule Bindings for more information.

To view rule binding inconsistencies, click Advanced > Inconsistent Rule Bindings in the Navigation pane.

How Column Change Mode Affects Report Display

The Column Change Mode setting for project distribution rule bindings can be set to automatically sync column settings between IS and ISA. Any column changes in IS are reflected in ISA, and users cannot update column configuration in ISA.

The priority and activation of rule binding columns can also be set to maintain ISA changes and to not update column settings based on IS updates.

The Column Change Mode setting also affects what data displays on the Inconsistent Rule Binding page.

If the setting is Inherit, the Inconsistent Rule Binding page displays when column order changes and when a new column is added.

If the setting is Inherit Ins / Dels only, the Inconsistent Rule Binding page does not display changes in column order but does display when a new column is added.

NOTE: If a column is deleted from an IS view, it will not be present in the failed data table. Therefore, the column will not be distributed in the ISA report.

Refer to Modify the Format of Reports Available from the Report Data Viewer for more information.
